Preface
Immunology is the study of the complex cellular and chemical reactions that occur in a host animal in response to contact with a foreign entity, such as a pathogen. An immune response involves recognition of the pathogen by the host as foreign body and the subsequent immune response to eliminate it (Roitt, 1998). There are two types of immune response, innate and adaptive. The innate response, which does not retain memory upon repeated exposure to the pathogen, is not specific to the pathogen.
